Lackawanna Yemen Soccer Club

About the Collection

The Lackawanna Yemen Soccer Club was founded in 1975 by Yemeni immigrants who had settled in the First Ward area of Lackawanna to work in the mills of the nearby Bethlehem Steel Company. This collection contains a variety of photographs documenting the activities of this soccer club, including both youth and adult players. This is the first installment of this collection, and more items will be added.

The University at Buffalo Libraries Digital Collections team would like to thank Faress Saleh for his help with this project.

The Lackawanna Yemen Soccer Club Digital Collection is the first installment in the Buffalo Soccer History Project. This project aims to document the history of soccer in Western New York. If you are interested in contributing materials to the project, please contact Molly Poremski.
