Josephine W. Hewlett was a graduate and donor to the University of Buffalo. Born in Buffalo in 1900, she worked as a case supervisor for the Erie County Department of Social Welfare. Before her death in October 1944, Josephine and her sisters, Theodosia C. Stickney and Ruth V. Hewlett, traveled widely, frequently taking trips together around North America and Europe. This album features photographs of the Hewlett family around Arizona, California, and New York State. The photographs were taken by Josephine and many are dated between January and February 1918. The sisters traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona; San Diego, California; Los Angeles, California; Pasadena, California; and Genesee Falls, New York. They visited the Grand Canyon, Balboa Park, Venice Canal Historic District, and Letchworth State Park, among other tourist destinations.
