Laughter is such a precious thing.
I’ve heard its gay heart warming ring
From Charlottetown to Boundary Bay,
On Christmas and St. Patrick’s day,
On New Years Eve and Halloween,
And all the days that lie between
I’ve heard a child’s gay bubbling mirth
Like lofty hello upon the earth,
A girl’s young laughter clean and sweet,
Echoing down a quiet street,
As arm in arm they move along,
Part of the happy school girl throug.
A laugh can fortify a soul
And wash a broken spirit whole;
Can bring a world of comfort to
Not just yourself, but others who
struggle along the beaten way,
who only live from day to day.
I know a woman gay and strong
Whose laugh has carried her along
The darkest roads of human kind,
Who has kept happiness in mind.
Through all the sorrow, all the strife,
That pile up sometimes in this life.
