Charlotte Mew quotes Lord Byron ("Man's love is of man's life a part; 'tis woman's whole existence.") and illustrates the quote with an ink drawing. In the drawing, a seated man reads the newspaper and smokes a pipe while a woman who is knelt before him removes his shoes.
