William S. Huff Photographs of the work of Louis Kahn

About the Collection

This collection contains William S. Huff’s photographs of selected works of the American architect Louis I. Kahn (1901-1974). Among the projects featured in the collection are the Yale Art Gallery (1951), the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, New York (1959), and the Yale Center for British Art (1969).

William S. Huff, Professor Emeritus of Architecture at the University at Buffalo, was a student at Yale in 1951 when he first met Louis Kahn. It is when Huff saw the completed Yale Art Gallery that he knew he wanted to work with Kahn. Huff worked in Kahn’s office between 1958 and 1960 and during the summers of 1961 and 1962.

These photographs are part of the Louis I. Kahn Collection in the University Archives of Special Collections which was presented by Professor Huff.
