Travel Photograph Album, 1910
About the Collection
This collection contains an 80-page photograph album from 1910 that depicts a tourist group’s journey around Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. They visited the Madeira Islands, Spain, Gibraltar, Algeria, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Italy, Monaco, France, and England. The group traveled mainly by boat and train, but at one point took a horse-drawn carriage to one of their destinations. The travelers saw numerous tourist attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, the Amalfi Coast, and Pompeii. Unfortunately, the creator of the album is unknown, except for a cheeky “Yours truly” caption below a photograph on page 5. There was at least one family and numerous couples that went on this trip together.
