Ruth V. Hewlett Arizona Travel Photograph Album, circa 1933
About the Collection
Ruth V. Hewlett was a graduate and donor to the University of Buffalo. Ruth and her two sisters, Theodosia Stickney (née Hewlett) and Josephine Hewlett, traveled extensively around the world and kept numerous scrapbooks of their journeys. This collection consists of a 34 page scrapbook curated by Ruth Hewlett of her family trip around Arizona and Mexico. Ruth, Theodosia, Josephine, their mother, and a few family friends traveled to Tucson, Arizona; Moenkopi, Arizona; Magdalena de Kino, Mexico; Patagonia, Arizona; Coolidge, Arizona; and Prescott, Arizona. They visited many attractions, such as the Grand Canyon, the Apache Trail, Sabino Canyon, Tumacácori National Historic Park, and San Xavier del Bac Catholic Mission, among others. The trip took place in 1933, as many of the photographs are dated throughout 1933.
