Title

Portraits from the Buffalo Academy of Medicine

Description

The Buffalo Academy of Medicine was founded in 1892 when four separate medical specialty and surgical societies merged with the intent of making the Buffalo medical community a more cohesive body. Prominent physicians and surgeons whose reputations were known and respected within and beyond Buffalo presented papers and addresses on current medical and surgical topics, case studies and actual anatomical specimens for discussion. The group maintained a medical library and museum. The Buffalo Academy of Medicine was disbanded sometime after 2004.
