Love Canal Chemical Waste Landfill (Niagara Falls, N.Y.)

Several single-story houses are aligned along a sidewalk, all with boarded-up windows and doors. The house closest to the foreground is marked “738” in red on the plywood. The surrounding lawns and sidewalks are overgrown with tall grass and weeds. Utility poles and power lines run along the left side of the street, and the sky is clear with bright daylight.
