W pażdzierniku, odbył się w Warszawie VIII Międzynarodowy Konkurs Pianistyczny im. Fryderyka Chopina. Oto finaliści: (od lewej) Piotr Paleczny - Ill nagroda (Polska), Garrick Olhlsson - I nagroda (USA), Natalia Gawriłowa - V nagroda (ZSRR), Janusz Olejniczak - VI nagroda (Polska), Mitsuko Uchida - II nagroda (Japonia), Eugene lndijo - IV nagroda (USA).

In October, held in Warsaw VIII International Piano Competition of Frederic Chopin. Here are the finalists (from left) Piotr Paleczny - Ill Prize (Poland), Garrick Olhlsson - First Prize (USA), Natalia Gawriłowa - V Award (USSR), Janusz Olejniczak - VI Award (Poland), Mitsuko Uchida - Second Prize (Japan ), Eugene lndijo - fourth Prize (USA).
