Recorded at the University at Buffalo on June 28 and July 1, 1968 by Allen De Loach for the Poetry Collection on two Scotch reel-to-reel tapes.
In the third and fourth sessions, Duncan read from Canto XCI of The Cantos of Ezra Pound and from "The delineaments of the giants," the opening section of Paterson by William Carlos Williams. Among the subjects Duncan discussed during the third and fourth sessions were Blake, Rubens, Rembrandt, Michael McClure, Renoir, Finnegans Wake, The Maximus poems, Freud, The golden bough, Hesiod, H.D., T.S. Eliot, Process and Reality, Metaphysics, Jung, Ernest Jones, James Joyce, Jarrell, Stravinsky, Odysseus, Homer, Robert Browning, Gertrude Stein, Andreas Divus' translation of Homer, Keats, Levertov, Brancusi, George Berkeley, Samuel Johnson, Aphrodite, Minerva, Athena, Dionysus, Chronos, Gaia, Sartre, Piaget, Norman Brown, Goethe, Plato, and Yeats. During the third and fourth sessions, the books added to the reading list were Gentlemen prefer blondes and but gentlemen marry brunettes by Anita Loos.
