This recording is of three lectures on Charles Olson by Jack Clarke, Don Byrd, and Susan Howe, delivered at SUNY Buffalo on April 12, 1988. Clarke delivers a lecture titled "The metaphysics of survival," then Byrd delivers a lecture titled "A sequence of events measurable in time," and Howe delivers a response to Clarke and Byrd, titled "Since a dialogue we are." Clarke, Byrd, and Howe are introduced by Robert J. Bertholf. Robert Creeley speaks from the audience during the question and answer session after Howe's lecture.
