Description
Green envelope containing multiple found art cards. Polish postage stamp affixed to envelope. Envelope also features other artist stamps and was part of the Youth and Mail Art Project.
A set of mail art items sent from Poland to Belgium, including an envelope, artworks, and related correspondence. The front of the envelope is addressed to “Luce Fierens = Youth & Mail Art, c/o Boterstraat 43, B-2811 Hombeek, Belgium (Belgia)” and features a Polish postage stamp, multiple circular “Międzynarodowa Sztuka Poczty – Mail Art – Michał Graczyk” stamps, a collage of fruit, and a black starburst sticker. The back of the envelope has the same circular mail art stamp with a small turquoise spiral sticker sealing the flap.
Inside are several mixed-media artworks and notes. One collage shows a woman in a red outfit surrounded by torn colored paper; another abstract drawing combines pastel and pencil with faint human figures. Additional collages depict a woman walking in a red and black dress and a child’s face partly covered by layered paper. The backs of these works include pencil sketches, handwritten notes reading “Youth & mail art” and “All the best Michael,” and repeated “Mail Art” and address stamps for “Michał Graczyk, ul. Reymonta 10/2, 46-093 Niemodlin, Poland.”
