My Dear Fanny– ? Dec 23 1917
I do not know whether I am for a letter. But I am sure I should like to hear from you. And I trust that you and your family will have a Merry Chrtistmas and a Happy New Year. Our Christmas is saddened by the loss of my only brother. He died the fifth of July ill only three days with Pneumonia. He left a widow and a little son ten years old. I wish I might have him but of course that cannot be– My sister will spend Christmas with me as Earll and his family (wife and two children Downer + Esther) go to Canada to Mrs. P’s home–for two days. Dr. Earl is as good as he promised to be. I wish you could] come and see me sometime. Much love to you and to your family.
