Description
Color, silent film of 1971 Founders Day ceremony and Amherst (North) Campus construction. The film features Robert L. Ketter who served as UB President during the years 1970-1989. The film includes two Founder's Day events:
00:04-02:33 - The cornerstone laying ceremony for O'Brian Hall, featuring scenes of ongoing construction of the building.
02:34-02:55m- Unveiling of an historic plaque at the site of the first building built for use by UB at Main and Virginia Streets. At the time of the filming, the current building on the site was the Catholic Union Building.
00:04-02:33 - The cornerstone laying ceremony for O'Brian Hall, featuring scenes of ongoing construction of the building.
02:34-02:55m- Unveiling of an historic plaque at the site of the first building built for use by UB at Main and Virginia Streets. At the time of the filming, the current building on the site was the Catholic Union Building.
In addition to UB President Robert L. Ketter, notable participants in the 1971 Founder's Day historical marker unveiling included: Erie County Executive B. John Tutuska, Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society President Crawford Wettlaufer, and the Director of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society Museum Walter S. Dunn, Jr. At the O'Brian Hall cornerstone laying, additional notable participants included: UB Provost Richard D. Schwartz, UB Law alumnus and State University Trustee Manly Fleischmann and Trustee of the New York State University Construction Fund Charles R. Diebold.
