Old and new means of transport, central Addis Ababa

On Churchill Avenue, a main thoroughfare of Addis Ababa, many different types of transport could be seen in late 1973: pedestrians

a woman carrying a heavy load

donkeys with their drivers

and a public bus. Note the absence of private automobiles. Ethiopia was a very poor country then
