The Convention Peoples Party combined generalized opposition to colonial rule into a relatively coherent single party, led by Kwame Nkrumah (Prime Minister and/or President 1952-1966). The CPP appealed to nationalism, economic development, and Nkrumah's charisma for its appeal.
