Description
This detailed land use map titled "Love Canal Area Settlement: Land Use Diagram Alternate 2 - Resettlement 'In Kind'" (Figure 27) was created by The Saratoga Associates as part of the area settlement study. It outlines redevelopment zones surrounding the Love Canal Emergency Declaration Area. Key designated zones include:
- Black Creek Village: area for single-family residential development.
- Commercial Office and Strip Zones: located on the northeast and southeast corners of the map.
- Medium density and Single-Family Residential Areas: proposed west of the containment zone.
- Community Center and Local Commercial Areas: placed along 93rd Street and Buffalo Avenue.
- Parkland and Open Space: includes the Gateway Transition Area and LaSalle Park near Cayuga Island.
- Existing Features: the fenced Love Canal containment area and filtration plant are preserved.
The map uses color coding and shading patterns to indicate zoning types and outlines ownership and development status with a detailed legend in the upper right. Streets and infrastructure are labeled throughout.
