Used to measure sensation upon the skin and thus to determine whether the condition of tactile sensibility is normal or altered
Two silver, thin shafts that are joined together by a hinge where the instrument can expand. The brass measuring device is attached to one silver shaft, which is used to determine "the degree of sensation".
