Title
The North Sea
Description
Ostend's location on the North Sea made it strategic as well as vulerable. Ostend was sacked by the Dutch and the Austrians, then became entrenched in the Anglo-Dutch Wars in the 1700s. Today it is a seaside resort, analogous to Brighton in the UK or Guethary in France.
