Title
Courtyard of the Maidens, Real Alcázar
Description
The Patio de las Doncellas, or Courtyard of the Maidens, in name recalls the tale that the Spanish Moors demanded 100 virgins every year as tribute from Iberian Christian kingdoms. In reality, the lower level of the courtyard was built for King Peter I, a Catholic and womanizer.
