Mail art no. 30
Subject
mail art
Description
Book-like mail art object, created by Amelia Etlinger, with a layered exterior and an open interior spread. The first image shows the closed piece made from handmade paper with metallic mesh fabric draped across the surface, translucent floral material beneath, and colored threads extending from the edges, with handwritten text along the right margin. The second image shows the piece opened flat: the left page has pale pastel color washes and a faint heart shape, while the right page contains attached fibers, small seeds or fragments, pieces of fabric, and red thread, all mounted on light-colored paper against a black background. All of this is enclosed in a large white envelope with a handwritten address on the front and a cancelled U.S. postage stamp affixed. Mail art recipient: Robert J. Bertholf.
