Title
[Poetry reading at Central Park Grill, September 11, 1986] / Robert Creeley.
Description
Recorded at the Central Park Grill in Buffalo, N.Y. for Writer's Cramp Series on September 11, 1986 on a 60 minute TDK sound cassette by Paul Hogan, who donated the recording to the Poetry Collection.
Poet and professor, Robert Creeley, reads his poetry with extended explanatory notes. He reads from 1962's For love, 1986's Memory gardens and poems which would form 1990's Windows. Poet speaks of his youth in New England, including his parents, his genealogy of being Scots-Irish, his exposure to Robert Frost's poetry, his acquaintance with artificial intelligence leader Marvin Minsky, who made him his first radio. Poet addresses the challenges of aging as both a man and a poet. He shares anecdotes about his time spent with Ed Dorn and Allen Ginsberg at Naropa and also with artist Jim Dine. Creeley discusses time he spent in Ithaca, N.Y. as a guest reader for the Signet Society on April 11, 1985
