Title
[Poetry reading at the University at Buffalo, December 9, 1969] / W.S. Merwin.
Description
Recorded at the Norton Conference Theater at the University at Buffalo on December 9, 1969 at 8 p.m. on a 7 inch Scotch reel-to-reel tape.
Poet W.S. Merwin reads a selection of his prose poems and poems from The moving target, as well as translations of Asian proverbs. At times, the listener can hear the public announcement speaker in operation, which can interfere with Merwin's reading. The poet tries to speak around the announcements. Merwin dedicated this reading to the Vietnam War draft resistors. The reading was sponsored by the Department of English and the UUAB Literature and Drama Committee.
