Title
[Poetry reading and lecture at the Poetry Collection, University at Buffalo, October 24 and 25, 1979] / Donald Hall.
Description
Poetry reading recorded in the Poetry Collection on October 24, 1979. Lecture recorded in Robert Creeley's classroom at the University at Buffalo, October 25, 1979 on a 5 inch Scotch reel-to-reel tape.
Donald Hall gives a poetry reading of new material. He provides humorous anecdotes as introductions to his poems, including one dealing with his reading "Reclining figure" in front of Theodore Roethke. He reads poems about his move to New Hampshire and also about his appreciation for farm animals and the working man. Discs 2 and 3 are a recording of Hall lecturing and answering questions on poetics and contemporary American poetry in Robert Creeley's graduate seminar class "Imaginations of person in contemporary poetry." Several English Department faculty members attended the spirited reading and lecture, including William Sylvester and Max Wickert.
