Recorded possibly on March 14, 1965 on a 7 inch Scotch reel-to-reel tape, at the American Theatre for Poets in New York City.
This recording is of a poetry reading by John Wieners, possibly held on March 14, 1965. Wieners is introduced as being "at present a teaching fellow at Buffalo." Before reading his own poetry, Wieners reads one poem in German by Novalis. Then Wieners reads mostly unpublished poems in the first half of the reading and mostly published poems in the second half, beginning the second half with "Ode on a common fountain." The location of the reading and the name of the man who introduces Wieners are not identified.
