This recording is of the second of the three lectures and one poetry reading given by Michael McClure as part of the Charles Olson Memorial Lectures at the University at Buffalo. This lecture was titled "Hammering it out." It focused on the biological basis of poetry, poetry and science, the architecture of the poem and the organism it describes and the importance of the work of Charles Olson.
