Title
[Poetry reading at the Hotel Albert, New York, N.Y, Spring 1968] / Robert Creeley.
Description
Recorded at the Hotel Albert in New York City in the spring of 1968 on a 7 inch Capitol reel-to-reel tape.
Robert Creeley devoted most of this spring 1968 appearance at the Hotel Albert in New York City, N.Y. to reading excerpts from his correspondence with William Carlos Williams. Creeley also discusses the poetics of Williams, among many other topics, with Allen Ginsberg, who seems to have been speaking from the audience. Creeley also read two poems by Williams (The world contracted to a recognizable image and To be recited to Flossie on her birthday) and three poems of his own (The rose, Numbers, and The finger). With frequent contributions from Ginsberg, Creeley's discussion covers Edward Dorn, Robert Duncan, Charles Olson, "The new American poetry: 1945-1960" edited by Donald Allen, Kaddish and Howl by Ginsberg, Paterson by Williams, Louis Zukofsky, Ezra Pound, Mitchell Goodman, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Robert Indiana, and what Creeley calls "the physical means of writing."
