Title
[Poetry reading at the University at Buffalo, March 17, 1969] / Michael Hamburger.
Description
Recorded in 231 Norton at the State University of New York at Buffalo on March 17, 1969 on two 7 inch Scotch reel-to-reel tapes.
Poet Michael Hamburger reads to the University community. "Well, I'm going to begin with a poem about a poetry reading," Hamburger said, "to get rid of all the negative things about poetry readings which I feel, because I've been thinking a lot about poetry readings, after attending a good many of them, and I'm certainly one of the poets who writes to be read, rather than to be listened to, and this is a poem called 'In Philistia.' Hamburger provides commentary throughout the reading. Introduction by Max Wickert.
