Title
[Poetry reading at the Lockwood Memorial Library, University at Buffalo, February 5, 1965 / Kenneth Koch.
Description
Recorded at the Lockwood Memorial Library at the University at Buffalo on February 5, 1965 on a 7 inch Sarkes reel-to-reel tape.
Kenneth Koch read poems and three short plays: "The return of the yellowmay," "The revolt of the giant animals," and "The building of Florence." Before reading the plays, Koch said that the costumes and sets by the painter Red Grooms for the American Theatre for Poets in New York production of the earlier play "Guinevere, or the death of the kangaroo" had inspired him to write the three sequels. Koch also mentioned that the title for the poem "Aus Einer Kindheit" (Scenes from a Childhood) came from Rilke, "but nothing else."
