Recorded at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. from July 24 to August 16, 1963 by Fred Wah on a 7 inch, 4 track, Sarkes reel-to-reel tape.

On PCF007, Ginsberg reads early poems, collected in Empty mirror (1961) and The gates of wrath (1972), poems from Howl and other poems (1956), Kaddish and other poems (1961), Reality sandwiches (1963). He also reads poems that would be published in Planet news (1968) and journal entries that would be published in Indian journals (1970), Journals early fifties early sixties (1977), and Journals mid-fifties (1995).
