Title
[Poetry reading at the Cambridge Artists Cooperative, Cambridge, Massachusetts, November 5 and December 11, 1972] / Charley Shively, Charles Stein, and John Wieners,
Description
Recorded at the Cambridge Artists Cooperative in Cambridge, Mass. on November 5 and December 11, 1972 on a 7 inch Shamrock reel-to-reel tape.
Poetry readings by Charles Shively, Charles Stein, John Wieners, and an unidentified female poet held at the Cambridge Artists Cooperative in Cambridge, Massachusetts on November 5 and December 11, 1972. The initial poem read by Wieners was "For Huncke." Before reading the poem, Wieners said "I'm going to read two poems in this book that the first one I'm in doubt about. It's called 'For Huncke' and the only reason I chose it today is that I read it to him last night. He was in a semi-coma, but the impetus of writing the poem at least came home when I was able to show it to him at St. Mark's Church where there was a monster inspirational poetry competition yesterday with everyone from R'lene Dahlberg reading, to Kenneth Koch, and Robert Creeley making animal sounds and rolling on the floor afterwards, so it was not a bad afternoon. We came in this morning to be here, and we had gone up to R'lene Dahlberg's afterwards and I read this to Huncke in the kitchen."
