Act 2, scene 1a

A stage set depicts a formal interior with dark wood-paneled walls, decorative oval frames, and a central painting of a tropical landscape. Three people in historical attire are positioned around a table covered with a fringed cloth, with one person seated on the left, another in a light-colored gown at the center, and a third standing on the right. The entire scene is framed by a proscenium arch with heavy curtains and a decorative valance.
