Carlo Maestrini staged the production
A large group of people in period-style clothing stands on a grand theatrical stage flanked by tall, fluted pillars. The set features a central throne on a raised platform and a complex backdrop illustrating medieval cityscapes and maritime scenes. Three model sailing vessels are suspended from the ceiling above the stage.
