Abu Dhabi is far and away the wealthiest of the seven United Arab Emirates. Established in 1971, the UAE is financially based on Abu Dhabi. 80% of its population are non-citizens, drawn to the Emirate on short-term contracts made possible by the oil industry. Its reserves are said to rank between 3rd and 7th in the world.
