The Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo War Relief Work Committee, led by Chairman Mrs. D. Maxson Estee, requested the club membership to do its share by producing 2000 comfort bags for the Red Cross to distribute to the soldiers in the trenches of World War I. It was also noted that a work room was opened in the clubhouse to prepare articles and other materials to be sent to both American and French soldiers.
