Title
The Joyces at Rocofoin--James Joyce and M. Monnier
Description
On verso in SB's handwriting "Joyce and M. Monnier | at Rocfoin near Maintenon | (Eure et Loir)"
Two individuals sit on a slatted wooden bench in an outdoor setting with brick architecture in the background. Both are dressed in suits and flat caps. James Joyce, seated on the left is sitting with legs crossed and arms folded, while M. Monnier, on the right, rests their head on one hand and leans against the armrest. The bench is positioned on a dirt or gravel surface, and there is shrubbery on the right side of the frame. On the back of the photograph, a note written in Sylvia Beach's handwriting reads, "Joyce and M. Monnier | at Rocfoin near Maintenon | (Eure et Loir)."
