Description
On verso in SB's handwriting "Photo C. S. | 2 Square Robiac | cor. Rue de grenelle"
Shakespeare and Company stamp
A multi-story curved stone building at the corner of a street, featuring both smooth and brick surfaces. A vertical sign on the upper wall reads "TRIESTE VENISE," and a larger awning-style sign above a storefront on the ground floor reads "CHESNOT." The ground-floor entrance is protected by a metal gate. A plaque on the corner wall identifies the location as "1er SQUARE ROBIAC N°2." Several windows with iron railings are visible, and a mid-20th-century vehicle is parked along the curb in the foreground. "Photo C. S. | 2 Square Robiac | cor. Rue de grenelle" is written on the back of the photograph in Sylvia Beach's handwriting. A Shakespeare and Company stamp is also on the back of the photograph.
