A large market square with uneven cobblestone pavement is populated by many people and horse-drawn carts. The market activity takes place in front of a long building with a pitched roof and a colonnade of white columns running along its entire length. The roof has several dormer windows and a triangular pediment over the central section. Dozens of horses are harnessed to wooden carts, and small groups of people are gathered around them or walking between stalls. A few cattle are also visible in the scene. The area is busy with movement and interaction.
