Dr. Virginia L. Cummings dedicated most of her life and career to the Buffalo Museum of Science, first as the Curator of Anthropology and later in administrative roles. Her father Carlos E. Cummings was the Buffalo Museum of Science Assistant Director and, later, Director, while she was growing up. Virginia served as Museum Director from 1970-1979 . During her tenure, exhibits were modernized, special displays were mounted and fund-raising drives were initiated for the first time. She passed away on April 16, 1997.
