Sepia-toned studio portrait photograph of architect Louise Blanchard Bethune and friend Frankie Sherman as young women posed closely together from Page 4 of a Bethune family tintype and cabinet card album, circa 1875. The young women wear fitted, buttoned garments typical of the late 19th century. Louise is seated with an arm resting on a support, while Frankie Sherman stands slightly behind with a hand placed on Louise's shoulder. The portrait is mounted on a decorative card with ornate printed borders and faint handwritten text below the image as follows: 'J.L. Bethune; Frankie Sherman.'
