Sepia-toned, rather faded studio portrait of Louise Blanchard Bethune as a young child, seated, with short hair, positioned in the upper portion of a softly toned oval frame. The photograph is mounted on a card featuring an ornate gold-colored border. A handwritten inscription of "J. L. Bethune" appears beneath the framed portrait. This is because Louise Bethune's original first name was "Jennie" .
