St. Denis cathedral west front
Description
The basilica of St. Denis, located ~6 miles north of Paris, stands as the first Gothic church ever built. It is the final resting place for almost all of France's kings and queens. The crypt includes carved representations of them, some done while the monarchs still lived. The missing tower was removed in the 1840s as a result of storm damage, but is scheduled for rebuilding, where France's kings are buried
