My Dear Frances:-
I read my sisters
letter yesterday telling me of
your whereabouts and this
morning I deliberately went
to work and burnt your address
of. did you ever hear of any
thing so absurd? So I shall
send this to Mrs. P to direct
and be sure in your
next letter to note your
address in full - plainly
What under the sun-
moon and stars are
you doing in Cleveland
I write you a letter and
postal card at Olean and
why werent they sent to
you! Think what a waste
of ideas
I am still at home - rest
-ing- in one way but full
of social duties more than
I wish. The means I had
layed by to start with
have fraudulently been
taken from me - this of
course is between you &
me. I have a very pleasant
home and some land
but. I cant get my money
(my fraction) from them
now. So here I stand
all ragged & dirty +c.
I think I shall join
the Teachers Agency
at N.Y. and receive a posi
tion as teacher if possi
ble in Phys- + in that way
have office hours after
school and get money
enough to work
I would dearly love to get
into a Sanitarium or
the like + get a fat salary.
but those positions I
have found are to be had
only thro [Sufl??nce] I
begin to feel “wretched
man that I am who
shall deliver me from
the body of this death
This is wicked I know
I have put no sign up here
because my Preceptor has
been so kind to me “I wish”
I [?] nice rides with gentle
new friends now + then + I
must tell you there is a [w?]
about 45 with an adopted
daughter of 14 who is very kind
+ sweet to me - now you like
children + widowers I believe
if you'll come out I transfer
him to you. He is dark rich
and handsome - will you
come? I would give much to
have a visit from you here
anyone else wouldn’t our tongues
run? Will you go to Commence
ment? If mother does not take
a contemplated trip [?e??]
I shall try and go - Miss
Johnston will be the only lady
I guess. Miss K does not come
up this year. Write at once
to your old room mate
