Joyce, James, 1882-1941

James Joyce and M. Monnier sit on a slatted wooden bench in front of a stucco building with brick-trimmed openings. Both are dressed in suits and wearing caps, with M. Monnier on the right, leaning back, and James Joyce on the left, resting an arm on the bench’s backrest. There is a plant growing near the wall on the right side of the frame. On verso in Sylvia Beach's handwriting "Joyce and M. Monnier | at Rocfoin near Maintenon."
