Description
In August of 1978, after heavy rains, numerous holes and metal pieces started to appear in the disintegrating clay cap over the former Love Canal, Niagara Falls, New York.
A close-up view of contaminated ground showing a partially buried, deteriorated barrel with visible rust and cracks. The surrounding soil appears discolored and uneven, suggesting chemical leakage.
