Description
In August of 1978, after heavy rains, numerous holes and metal pieces started to appear in the disintegrating clay cap over the former Love Canal, Niagara Falls, New York.
The image shows a patch of grassland with an area of dark, wet ground and reddish discoloration. The affected spot appears muddy, with surrounding dry grass and vegetation.
