Title
Court of the lions, Alhambra
Description
Art historians suggest that the Court of the Lions in the Alhambra is an architectural representation of Paradise, containing four distinct parts which represent the four corners of the world. The columns are like palms in an oasis, and each section of the garden is irrigated with a water channel to form four rivers. Though today the gardens are just dry stone gardens, they were full of trimmed flowers in the Middle Ages.
