Title
Geometric stars, Cordoba
Description
A microscopic view of a wall in the Mezquita, or Mosque, of Cordoba reveals the 8-pointed star, gilded and painted in deep shades of red, blue and green. The tessellations of the 8-pointed star motif are common in Islamic art. Art historians have argued that such patterns can suggest the underlying reality of infinity.
