Title
Shameful Death'
Subject
Watercolor painting--19th century.
English poetry--19th century.
Description
A kneeling figure in a long, pale gown leans against a bedside or low surface, clasping their hands in front of them. The fabric of the garment flows outward in soft curves, decorated with small heart shapes and a delicate belt. Another figure lies back on the surface, unclothed from the waist up, with one arm extended across the edge. In the background, two figures are shown from the waist up, draped in veils and facing forward with neutral expressions. The scene is signed "Frances E. Macdonald 1897" in the lower left corner.
